LVLP Spray Gun - Low Volume, High Pressure Performance

An LVLP Spray gun does not use the pressure of a pneumatic compressor like many other industrial spray guns. The power behind an LVLP spray gun is substantially lower and since there is less air pressure used, you are able to work with these much lower operating pressures and still get some outstanding quality paint application. An LVLP sprayer allows you to produce really great, clean-smelling, high-quality pieces without the high pressures of an HVLP machine. The result is much cleaner coverage and much less mess.

An LVLP Spray gun uses a very unique pumping system. It is actually more similar to a suction device than it is to a compressor. It works on the same principals of suction and atomization that an atomizer uses. A small amount of compressed air is sprayed onto the paint or material that needs to be exposed. This creates a very low pressure environment which forces the liquid into a column. Once the column is fully developed, it pushes against the outer edges of the material and creates a vacuum which raises the pressure even further.

The pumps in these guns are extremely efficient and work by using a two stage motor. They inject the compressed air immediately as the compressed air is released and also inject the fuel (oxygen) at just the right time as it is being compressed. By combining these two processes, the pressure is raised so that the entire process is much more consistent and powerful than other types of spray guns. While an LVLP is unable to do nearly as much as a compressor, when used correctly, it can create incredible results and leave a much larger footprint on the surface than other options.

In order for your LVLP soft-pull trigger to work to its highest potential, there are a number of different things that you need to make sure of. First, these spray guns are not only able to work effectively, but they are also incredibly reliable. While they may have a hard-pull trigger mechanism, this is far less likely to wear out than the hard-push trigger mechanism on other types of LVLP guns. This means that if you want to ensure that you have reliable and efficient working equipment, you should look towards this type of spray gun.

As the compressed air is being sprayed, you want to maintain a constant pressure. While the material being sprayed is extremely thin, a high pressure can quickly ruin it by causing too much heat. Instead, maintain a moderate pressure that will allow the clear coats to be applied with sufficient control and prevent cracking.

Another important thing to keep in mind is to keep the back end clean. While the overspray that comes off the back of the nozzle is important, it is equally important to get the back end clear of any residual spray gun oil or grease. While it is easy to remove the oil or grease from the back end once the gun is empty, it is much harder to prevent it from coming back on later. If you find yourself consistently having to clean the back end of the spray gun in order to keep it working properly, then you will know that it will benefit you to purchase an extra strong clear coat.

It is also important to consider the fan pattern when choosing between an LPV and a LVLP spray gun. The LVLP uses a lower profile fan pattern that helps generate higher pressure than the LPV. While this can take some of the workload off of you when working with the material, it can also cause some unwanted spray gun oil buildup in the bottom of your hopper. It can also wear out the seals over time and create pressure loss. You may also want to consider an additional motor if the fan pattern is not going to be as strong as you would like for your application.

For larger spray jobs, either single or twin nozzle LVLP spray guns can be used. They operate in much the same way as the twin nozzle spray guns, but both the types of spray guns require low volume low pressure spray to maintain a good seal with the material. Using a twin nozzle spray gun can help you produce more precise results if you are using a more complicated detail or object. If you are looking for a basic spray gun, however, the low pressure output that is produced by the twin nozzle gun may be just what you need.
